Marianne Hansen
WRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, EDITOR
Marianne Hansen was born in Hong Kong to a Chinese mother and a Danish father. At 4 months old, she moved to Denmark where she was raised in the countryside and at age 19 she left for London where she spent 5 years, getting a bachelor's degree in business and doing acting - her first foray into the film industry.
In 2002 she arrived in Los Angeles, initially attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. It was by chance she discovered directing and soon there was no turning back. She plunged herself full-time into it - doing both theatre and film as well as writing, editing and producing - in order to bring her stories to life. She spent two years at UCLA Extension where she holds a record 7 certificates. Her thesis film "Alice Rose" won best art film at the 2006 FAIF film festival. “Lapse” is her first feature, a psychological thriller about a girl who wakes up in the desert with blood on her hands and no memory. This project has been over 5 years in the making, from when it was first conceived as an idea till it was fully finished.
Principal photography took place in September-October 2007 and the film will be completed in early to mid 2010. Marianne has returned to her home country of Denmark, as her US visa expired in late 2007. She is currently working on several new feature length scripts.
